The Wild Prairie Journal
Stories from the hearts I’ve photographed, planning guidance for the seasons you’re in, and honest moments worth holding onto.
From Colorado Springs family sessions to mountain elopements, weddings, and couples’ adventures across Colorado, this is where inspiration and real life meet.
Extended Family Photography in the Colorado Mountains, Cottonwood Pass
Two sisters. Their husbands. Three kids, the youngest only a few months old. Seven people standing on a mountain together because this was the week, and this was the place, and sometimes you just make it happen. Extended family photography at Cottonwood Pass near Buena Vista, September aspens, silver light through rain clouds, and a journey from the trailhead to the Continental Divide.
Great Sand Dunes Family Photography, Jessica & Mitchell
Family photography at Great Sand Dunes National Park is unlike anything else in Colorado. Towering dunes, golden hour light that turns the sand to amber, and the kind of wide-open space that lets a family just be. Jessica and Mitchell brought their whole crew, kids, grandparents, and their Newfoundland, for an evening session that started in the trees and chased the sun all the way to the horizon. This is what a Wild collection session looks like, and it's worth every mile of the drive.
Colorado Springs Family Session on Air Force Academy Land
Cassidy’s graduation called for something special—a family session wrapped in love, sunlight, and celebration. We explored a beautiful, tucked-away spot on Air Force Academy land in Colorado Springs (accessible to those with military ID!) and soaked up golden hour in the mountains. Her son Solomon brought all the expressions and sweet mama snuggles, and we ended the evening with magic in the meadow.
A Boho Mountain View Family Session in Colorado Springs
This boho-inspired family session took place in Colorado Springs, surrounded by open space and mountain views. Having worked with this family before, this session celebrates connection, growth, and the beauty that unfolds when relationships are built over time.
Behind the Scenes of a Family Photography Mentorship Session
A behind-the-scenes look at a family photography shoot-along mentorship, where learning happens in real time alongside real families. This session captures connection, curiosity, and the kind of growth that unfolds when photography is shared, not siloed.
Family Session at Pinnacle Mountain State Park
While traveling to Arkansas, I photographed a family session at Pinnacle Mountain State Park, a place filled with texture, movement, and quiet beauty. This session documents connection, motherhood, and the joy that comes from photographing families in new landscapes while traveling.
Mountain View Family Session in Colorado Springs
When Diana suggested hosting her fall family session at home, I wasn’t sure what to expect, until I arrived to sweeping Front Range views and space made for wandering. This mountain-view family session in Colorado Springs documents a family of five moving together through a familiar landscape, returning once again to be photographed as they grow.
