Colorado Springs Maternity Photographer at Garden of the Gods

Jennifer and Brandon booked my maternity and newborn bundle so we could start building trust and connection before their little one even arrived. Their maternity session at Garden of the Gods was relaxed and warm, set against red rock formations and soft golden light.

From choosing the best timing for Jennifer’s growing bump to guiding her through wardrobe options, this session was about more than photos, it was about creating space to feel calm, cared for, and excited for what’s next.

A Golden Hour Session With Jennifer + Brandon

There’s something sacred about this chapter, the waiting, the quiet anticipation, the way love shifts and expands before your baby even arrives. Jennifer and Brandon stepped into this space with so much grace and tenderness, booking my maternity and newborn bundle so we could start building connection before their little one was here.

For their maternity session, we chose Garden of the Gods in Colorado Springs, a place where the red rock formations stand like sentinels against the evening sky, wrapping everything in warm, golden light. It was one of those evenings where time slowed down and all that mattered was the two of them and the little life growing between them.

Why Timing Matters for Maternity Photos

One of the biggest questions expecting parents have is, “When should we schedule our maternity session?” The truth is, it’s different for everyone. Jennifer started showing later, so we worked together to find the timing that felt best for her, when her belly was beautifully showing, but she still felt comfortable and at ease moving through the session.

That’s one of my favorite parts of this work: guiding you through those details so you can show up feeling prepared and confident.

Choosing the Right Outfit

Wardrobe is one of the biggest pieces of the puzzle for maternity photos. Jennifer tried on several dresses before finally finding “the one”, a soft, flowing Anthropologie piece that hit just right and made her feel beautiful.

I love helping clients with wardrobe decisions. From suggesting colors that complement our location to helping you figure out what feels authentic for you, it’s all part of creating a space where you can relax and feel good in your own skin.

Why Garden of the Gods Is Perfect for Maternity Sessions

Garden of the Gods is an iconic location for a reason: the sweeping red rocks, easy access, and panoramic views make it a dream backdrop for maternity photography. It’s perfect for couples who want dramatic Colorado beauty without a long hike or challenging terrain, especially helpful if you’re late in pregnancy and want a simple, relaxed experience.

Why Clients Love the Maternity + Newborn Bundle

Booking your maternity and newborn sessions together is more than a discount (though that’s nice, too). It’s about building trust and connection before your baby is even born. When we’ve already spent time together creating beautiful maternity photos, walking into your newborn session feels natural and calm, no pressure, no awkwardness, just an extension of a relationship we’ve already built.

Jennifer and Brandon loved knowing they wouldn’t have to scramble to find a photographer in those first hazy weeks. They had everything arranged ahead of time, leaving them free to simply enjoy those first precious days with their baby and I can’t wait to be there for it all.

A Sun-Soaked Maternity Session in the Colorado Mountains

Some families become more than just clients, they become part of my journey, just as I become part of theirs. I’ve had the absolute honor of photographing Laura and David through so many of life’s sweetest seasons, from their first maternity session with Liv to her newborn days, and now, as they prepare to welcome their baby boy. This golden, sun-soaked session in the Colorado mountains was a celebration of love, growth, and the beautiful transitions of family life.

Documenting families as they evolve is one of the greatest joys of my work. There’s something magical about capturing not just the milestones, but the quiet, in-between moments, the way a big sister waits with excitement, the way two parents hold each other with the deep knowing of what’s to come. I can’t wait to step into their home again soon for their newborn session, capturing the next chapter in their story.

A Growing Love Story: Laura, David & Liv

Some families just feel like home. That’s exactly how it feels every time I step into a session with Laura and David. We’ve been on this journey together since they were expecting their daughter, Liv, and now, years later, we’re celebrating the arrival of their newest little love, a baby boy, due any day now.

From their first maternity session at Garden of the Gods to their sun-drenched family session last year in the mountains, each moment has been filled with so much warmth and connection. This most recent maternity session, once again up in the mountains near their home, was no exception. It was golden, peaceful, and filled with the kind of love that makes you slow down and soak it all in.

Following Families As They Grow

There’s something incredibly special about documenting a family’s story over the years. I’ve watched Laura and David step into parenthood with such grace, capturing Liv’s newborn session in the comfort of their home and later seeing her grow into the most joyful, adventurous little girl. Now, as they prepare to welcome their son, I can’t help but feel honored to be part of this next chapter.

Maternity sessions like this remind me why I love what I do. They’re not just about the baby bump; they’re about the journey, the deep love between partners, the excitement of a sibling waiting to meet their baby brother, and the quiet, tender moments before life changes in the most beautiful way.

An Invitation Into a Family’s Most Sacred Space

One of the greatest honors in my work is being invited into a family’s home during those early newborn days. I’ll be photographing Laura and David’s in-home newborn session soon, and I already know it’s going to be filled with all the sweetness that comes with welcoming a new baby.

Laura and I had an instant connection from the beginning, but I knew we were kindred spirits when I noticed a beautiful piece of art in their home during Liv’s newborn session. When I commented on it, she told me she had found it on the side of the road in New York, my kind of gal! Those little moments, the things that make each family uniquely them, are what make these sessions so incredibly meaningful.

If you’re expecting a little one and want more than just a maternity session, if you want to document your growing family in a way that feels natural, connected, and deeply personal, I would love to be the one to tell your story. Whether it’s a sun-soaked maternity session, a cozy in-home newborn session, or capturing your family’s milestones as the years pass, I’m here for all of it.

Why Book a Maternity and Newborn Session Bundle?

Erin and Bobby met with me for both their maternity and their newborn sessions. We explored Cheyenne Canyon for their maternity session and then snuggled up in their home for my time with baby Sawyer. I love working with clients through their life stories. Engagement, wedding, maternity, newborn, family, and then back through the cycle with each new babe. Seeing their family change and grow. From being madly in love to seeing how amazing your partner is at growing a whole person (and an organ, thank you), to holding that babe in your arms, to chasing them around on the mountainside, I want to be there for it all. I want to build that relationship with you. It’s not just about photography. It’s about your heart (and mine).

Let me tell you a story about this girl. This sweet mama here. She booked her newborn session with me and I was so excited to see babe when they arrived. Fast forward to a few months after she booked the newborn session, her husband, Bobby, reached out to me. Turns out Erin tried to take her own maternity photos and it just wasn’t what she envisioned. Bobby wanted to know if I could sneak them in last minute. Yasssssssss is almost always my answer when its past clients (I also did their couples photos) AND babies are involved because I love them so.

Bobby let me know that he wanted to surprise Erin with this session and we met up at a Starbucks and he picked up a gift card. Fast forward to our session, Erin got to wear a beautiful dress I had just picked up from Reclamation Design and she wore it like a damn queen with that mama's belly and her gorgeous hair (I am just a tad jealous). It was nice to catch up with them both during this time together and also via their video call to prepare to come to their home for their newborn session. All of the extra time together just made it that much more special and natural for me when sweet Sawyer arrived.

Okay, I did say I would give ya’ll three reasons you should book your maternity and newborn session together….here they are:

  1. You get to foster a relationship with someone who is going to be getting pretty intimate with you during your newborn session. It is so nice to be able to get to know them beforehand (it’s nice for me to get to know you too!!)

  2. You can be confident that you will get the same quality of service and the same style of images from your photographer. Hello, super pretty wall art spreads!

  3. You get a discount! When you book your sessions together, the photographer most likely will offer you a discount (I do, you can request a proposal below to check out the details).

Super easy list of some things you might not think matter but I promise, connecting with the person who is documenting your connection is the best way to get those “feel good” images that evoke emotion and depth in your soul. I would love to work through your life journey with you. Want to share those moments with me so I can give them back to you in a gallery you will love? Let’s connect!
