A Joyful Birthday Family Session in Denver, Colorado

There’s something sacred about watching a family grow, not just in size, but in love, in connection, in all the little in-between ways that don’t show up on a calendar.

As a Colorado Springs Family Photographer, one of my greatest joys is building relationships with families over time, being invited into their most tender seasons and capturing the real, raw, joyful stuff. And I’ve had the absolute honor of photographing Brittany and her sweet crew three times now. It started with their maternity session, all that belly-glowing anticipation. Then came the newborn snuggles, sleepy yawns, and that intoxicating quiet joy that only a new baby brings. And now, now, Remi is two. TWO! And friends, she is pure magic.

This latest family photography session in Denver felt like a full-circle moment. But not like a perfectly polished circle, more like a hand-drawn one, full of charm and personality and realness. The kind of circle that says, "We’ve lived a little since then, haven’t we?"

We met up in a Denver park I hadn’t explored before, and let me tell you, it gave me all the creative goosebumps. As a Colorado Family Photographer, I’m always looking for new pockets of beauty, and this spot was chef’s kiss. The golden light dancing through the tall grasses, the texture of the trees, the open sky? It felt like nature herself was singing a little birthday song just for Remi.

And oh my heart, the way this family shows up for each other. You can feel it in the way they laugh together, the way Remi runs back into her mama’s arms with total abandon, the way her grandparents look at her like she’s stardust and sunshine all rolled into one chubby-cheeked toddler.
