A Colorado Springs Couples Session in Cheyenne Canyon

I first met Yulia during my time working for the Quad Innovation Partnership at Colorado College. Many of my days were spent tucked away in the basement of Loyal Coffee in downtown Colorado Springs, where the Quad hosted student-led programs. Yulia was always incredibly kind, one of those people whose presence feels warm and grounding. She also makes the best toast. Ask my daughter, Emma. She’ll confirm.

As we talked more, Yulia shared that she was engaged. I love being able to give back to people who make my life brighter, and I offered her and her partner, Logan, a no-strings-attached couples session. Partly because generosity matters to me, and partly because shooting without expectations keeps my creative spirit alive.

Before every session (yes, all of them, aside from mini sessions), I meet with my clients to connect and talk through what matters most to them. During that conversation, Yulia said something I’ll never forget.

When I asked what she loved most about her relationship with Logan, she didn’t hesitate. She told me that with him, each day feels like a new high, not a peak they’re chasing, but something that continues to build. Some relationships start intensely and spend years trying to return to that feeling. Theirs started slowly and has grown deeper with time, becoming better with each breath.

There isn’t much to add to that. What a love.

We photographed their couples session in Cheyenne Canyon, letting the landscape hold space for quiet moments and natural connection. The images from this session reflect exactly what they shared, authenticity, steadiness, and a soulful bond that doesn’t need to perform to be felt.

These are some of my favorites from our time together. Simple love. The best kind.
