Why Book a Maternity and Newborn Session Bundle

When Megan and William first reached out to me, it was for a couples session at The Paint Mines to celebrate their anniversary. We had to reschedule because of weather, and somewhere between the original date and the new one, everything changed. They found out they were expecting.

That anniversary session became something else entirely, a celebration not just of where they'd been, but of what was coming. Then they booked the maternity and newborn bundle.

I got to photograph them through it all. The belly. The waiting. The baby. This is what it looks like when a family invites you into their story and lets you stay.

What the Bundle Includes

When you book your maternity and newborn sessions together, you get more than a discount (though yes, there's a discount). You get time. Time to plan, to talk, to figure out what you want these images to hold. Time for me to learn how you move together, what makes you laugh, what quiets you. By the time I show up at your door with your newborn in your arms, I'm not a stranger. I'm someone who already knows you.

The bundle includes a maternity session at any of my Colorado locations, from Garden of the Gods to the quiet corners of Cheyenne Canon to the mountain locations in my Wild collection. It also includes an in-home or on-location newborn session in the first few weeks of baby's life.

Both sessions come with planning calls, access to my location catalog, and my wardrobe styling service, because what you wear matters more than you think.

You can see the full details of what's included and how pricing works here.

Megan's Approach to Color

Megan is one of the most intentional clients I've ever worked with when it comes to wardrobe. She's spent years studying color through Flourish Styling Co. and David Zyla's book, Color Your Style, learning which tones bring out her natural features, her skin, her hair, her eyes. By the time we met for her maternity session at Garden of the Gods, she already knew exactly what she wanted to wear. And it showed.

I brought a faux fur blanket I've been loving, and it was the perfect finishing touch. The whole evening was about celebrating her, this season, this body, this baby she was growing. The light wrapped around her and William, and the red rocks rose behind them, and it was one of those sessions where everything just works.

If you're not sure where to start with what to wear, I can help. My styling service is included with every session, and we'll figure it out together.

When Baby Comes

Marina arrived the way a lot of Colorado mountain babies do: needing some extra time on oxygen before she was ready for the world. It's common at elevation, the thinner air, the adjustment. By the time we met at Ute Valley Park for her newborn session, she was a few weeks older than the typical newborn window, and that was exactly right for her.

She was fussy that evening. Babies are. We rolled with it, pausing when she needed comfort, moving gently, never pushing. That's the thing about newborn sessions: they follow baby's lead. What matters is that everyone feels safe and held, and the images come from that place.

I photographed Marina in her parents' arms with the golden prairie grass behind them, the same landscape I've returned to for years because of the way the light moves across it. She's here now. She's real. And her parents have images of her very first days to carry with them forever.

In Her Words

Here's what Megan wrote when I asked why she wanted to document this season:

“Pregnancy is such a short season of life, and we want to make sure we document it. It's a beautiful journey, but one that can be challenging both physically and mentally. And at the end of the day, our baby girl deserves to be celebrated."

And…

“We really want to capture this transition in our lives and marriage as we enter this new chapter of parenthood. We're in a season of change and new beginnings, and we want to embrace that in our photos."

That's it. That's the whole thing.

The maternity and newborn bundle exists because this season is short. Because the belly and the baby blur together in memory faster than you expect. Because having someone who knows you show up to meet your newborn makes the whole thing feel less overwhelming and more like a gift.

If you're expecting and wondering whether to book both sessions, this is my answer: yes. Book them together. Let me be there for the waiting and the arrival. Let me photograph the whole story.
