Mountain View Family Session in Colorado Springs

When Diana suggested having her fall family session take place at home, I’ll admit I was a little skeptical at first. But it didn’t take long to realize that this mama knew exactly what she was doing.

Just behind their home sits open space with expansive views of the Front Range, the kind of landscape that invites movement, play, and room to breathe. It was the perfect setting for her family of five.

I first met Diana the year before when I photographed her daughter’s baptism, and being invited back again is something I never take lightly. Getting to document families over time, watching them grow, shift, and settle into new seasons, is one of the most meaningful parts of this work for me.

This time, the entire family joined in, and they were incredible together. They moved easily through the space, played freely, and stayed connected in that effortless way that happens when people feel at home, both with each other and in their environment.

Sessions like this fill me to the brim.

Photographing families on their own land or in places tied closely to their daily lives creates space for something deeper. The images hold not just what things looked like, but how this season felt, grounded, expansive, and full of motion.
