Family Session at Pinnacle Mountain State Park

My family and I recently traveled to Arkansas to celebrate my father-in-law’s birthday, a trip that felt both meaningful and overdue. I had only met him once before, and with flights surprisingly affordable, it felt like the perfect opportunity to spend time together and make memories I’ll always be grateful for.

Around the same time, I was mapping out the year ahead and realized just how much travel was on the horizon. Being in new places always gets my wheels turning creatively, and I decided to offer a limited number of family sessions during these trips, an idea that immediately sparked excitement. Photographing families in unfamiliar places has a way of waking something up in me.

This session was my first travel family session of the year, and it did not disappoint.

Abbie, who owns and operates Peace Love Photography in Little Rock, met me with her boys at Pinnacle Mountain State Park after I spent the morning scouting the area. Twisted trees, a winding creek, textured ground, and beautiful light, it was everything I could have hoped for.

That evening, we wandered through the park together as though we were old friends, watching her boys explore and play. Abbie has the unmistakable heart of a boy mom, steady, playful, and deeply connected. There was always a hand reaching for hers, a request for a kiss, a moment of closeness. When her oldest, Greyson, slipped into the water, she laughed it off without hesitation, and we simply carried on.

It was magical in the quietest way.

Photographing in a new space made me feel alive, full of growth, excitement, and gratitude. Travel sessions like this remind me why I fell in love with photography in the first place: the people, the places, and the stories that unfold when you let go of familiarity.

Seeing the earth this way is such a gift. I hope I always get to keep doing this work, reaching, dreaming, and documenting love wherever it shows up.

Thank you, Abbie and boys, for trusting me with this chapter of your story.
