In-Home Newborn Lifestyle Session in Colorado Springs
At the beginning of the year, I set a few quiet intentions for my work, one of them being to photograph more in-home newborn photography sessions, especially those that included older siblings. There’s something incredibly grounding about documenting families in their own space, exactly as they are in those early days.
2020 began with this beautifully crafted in-home newborn lifestyle session to celebrate the arrival of Baby Mia.
Big brothers Liam and Bro bro were completely smitten from the start. One of my favorite images from our time together is a quiet moment between the boys, Liam looking at his little brother, who is looking at their baby sister. In Liam’s eyes and his soft smile, you can see something settling into place. Even if he didn’t fully understand it yet, he was proud. He had become a big brother too.
Those layered relationships, sibling to sibling, parent to child, are what make in-home newborn sessions so meaningful.
Janine and her family welcomed me into their home just days after Mia was born, trusting me to document this tender season with honesty and care. Their connection was palpable, and even then, you could feel their adventurous spirit woven into the way they moved together as a family.
Since this session, their story has continued to unfold, more travels, more growth, more children, and more life layered on top of this beginning. But this moment, right here, holds its own kind of magic. A pause. A deep breath. A family settling into love.
In-home newborn photography allows space for exactly that. No rushing. No expectations. Just connection, color, and the quiet beauty of welcoming someone new.
Janine, thank you for trusting me with this chapter. These early days matter, and it was an honor to hold them for you.
